FARMINGTON — Mrs. Clara Amy Raines, 88, passed away February 23, 2008, at Parkland Health Center, South, Farmington. Clara was born October 9, 1919, in Bourbon, Missouri, and was the daughter of Samuel David Bohnenkamp and Amy 'Sites' Bohnenkamp. Also preceding in death were: her husband, Samuel Thomas Raines (Nov. 24, 1997); one Sister, Mildred Statler Sellers and three Brothers: Earl, Marvin and Henry Bohnenkamp.

Clara taught fifth grade at Desloge Elementary from 1953-1977. She previously taught at Advance, Missouri, and two country schools for a total of 30 years. Clara accepted Christ at an early age and was active in church work for many years. She was a member of Farmington Freewill Baptist Church. She loved the outdoors; loved to write poetry; enjoyed various sports and was an avid ping pong player. She participated in the Senior Olympics in Track and Ping Pong and won many awards and medals thru the years.

Survivors Include: two Step-Daughters, Anne 'Mrs. Kimbal' Strangmeier, of Park Hills; Linda 'Mrs. Bruce' Nash, of Simpsonville, South Carolina. One Step-Son: Sam (and Frances) Raines, of Choctaw, Oklahoma. Two Sisters: May 'Mrs. Harry' Summers, of Willow Springs, Missouri; Lucy Fowler, of Pocahontas, Missouri. Seven Step-Grandchildren: David, Tom and Scott Raines; Teresa Winings; Kimberly Cole; Eric Nash; Cristi Gale; 12 Step, Great-Grandchildren and a Special Friend: Al VonFange, of Farmington.

Visitation today, 4-8 p.m. Visitation resumes Tuesday at 6:30 a.m., and funeral Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., February 26, 2008, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel, Farmington, with Rev. Roger Hogan and Rev. Randy Rains officiating. lnterment at Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri.
