Quade, Norman E.

Norman E. Quade, 93, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born October 13, 1919, in Arbor, Mo., to Herbert and Frieda Gerecke Quade. The family moved to Leming Orchard near Gordonville, in 1925.

Norman and Bernice M. Ulrich were married November 3, 1946, at Zion Methodist Church in Gordonville. They had been married 65 years when Bernice died August 5, 2012.

During WWII, Norman was employed at the Kaiser Shipyard in Richmond, Ca. Upon returning to southeast Missouri, he worked at Mid-South Steel in Cape Girardeau from 1956 to 1981, retiring in 1981 as shop foreman.

After retirement, he operated a mower repair business and helped Bernice host bus trips for Robins Tours. He and Bernice also enjoyed walking at West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include a brother, Paul (Dee) Quade of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Naomi (Art) Suzuki of Granite City, Ill., Magdeline Carter of Nixa, Mo., Rose Quade of Dexter, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and seven sisters.

Friends may call Sunday, July 14, 2013, from 5 to 7 PM, and Mon., July 15, from noon to time of service, at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be Monday at 2 PM, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
