Miget, Robert J.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Robert J. Miget, 71, of Perryville died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at his home.
Miget was born Oct. 28, 1936, at Perryville, son of Wilbert Leo and Esther Stella Taylor Miget. He and Margie Bauer were married Jan. 30, 1960.
Miget worked at the Republic-Monitor newspaper in Perryville from 1959 to 2001. He was an alderman in Ward 3 in Perryville from 1980 to 1984, and was mayor from 1984 to the present. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Miget was also a member of American Legion Post 133 and a member of the Perryville Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Yvonne Spears, Lisa Moldenhauer, Jill Steffens and Jane Moldenhauer, all of Perryville, Linda Jackson of Florissant, Mo.; a son, Mark Miget of Kingswood, Texas; a sister, JoAnn Meyer of Florissant; a brother, Jim Miget, of Perryville; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call between 4 and 9 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Monday with the Knights of Columbus at the funeral home. An Elks service will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 133.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, December 18th, 2007 for Perryville Mayor Robert J. "Bob" Miget, who died Saturday at his home.
He was born October 28th, 1936 in Perryville, the son of Wilbert Leo and Esther Stella Taylor Miget who both preceded him in death.
He married Margie Bauer on January 30th, 1960. She survives in Perryville.
He is also survived by five daughters and five sons in law: Yvonne and Scott Spears, Lisa and Jeff Moldenhauer, Jill and Jeff Steffens; and Jane and Tim Moldenhauer all of Perryville and Linda and Steve Jackson of Florissant; a son, Mark Miget of Kingswood, Texas; a sister and brother in law, JoAnn and Don Meyer of Florissant; a brother and sister in law, Jim and Mary Ann Miget of Perryville and 15 grandchildren: Beanne, Alexandria and Sydney Spears of Perryville, Robert, Ellen, Christine and Clair Jackson of Florissant, Hanna, Megan and Connor Moldenhauer of Perryville, Marcus, Madeline and Trent Steffens of Perryville and Ross and Allison Moldenhauer of Perryville.
He was elected Mayor of Perryville in 1984. Prior to that he served as Third Ward Alderman on the board of aldermen from 1980 to 1984.
He was employed at the Republic-Monitor newspaper from 1959-2001. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and was a 50-year member and third degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 133 and a member of the Elks Lodge in Perryville.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. this (Monday, December 17th) evening and 6:30-9:50 a.m. Tuesday, December 18th at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers with the Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m.
A funeral mass for Perryville Mayor Robert J. "Bob" Miget will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 18th at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. The Rev. Milton Ryan CM will officiate.
Burial with military graveside honors by American Legion Post No. 133 will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the future Robert Miget Memorial Park on French Lane or to the Southeast Hospice.
