Margaret T. Matthews, 85, of Owensboro, Ky., died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014. OWENSBORO, Ky. - Margaret T. 'Inky' Matthews, 85, of Owensboro, Ky passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Heartford House. She was born on May 31, 1928 in Owensboro to the late Manley Berry Tichenor and Charlotte Tischendorfe Tichenor. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Inky was formerly employed at Kuester's Hardware, was a tutor at Longfellow, a member of Retired Senior Volunteer Program, active in the Senior Adult program at church, and a U K Basketball fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Walter 'Bubba' Matthews; three brothers, Phillip Tichenor, Everett Tichenor, William Berry Tichenor; a sister, Helen Rouse; and a son-in-law; Ricky Hamilton.
Survivors include four sons, Walter Lee Matthews (Cathy) of Cape Girardeau, MO, David Matthews of Owensboro, Mark Matthews (Susan), and J.B. Matthews (Kim) of Cape Girardeau, MO; a daughter, Melody Hamilton of Owensboro; nine grandchildren, Crissi Matthews, Andy Matthews, Jenna Matthews, Emily Obergoenner (Todd), Ben Matthews, David Matthews, Jr, Erin Bleemel (Matt), Olivia Kirby (Nathan) and Jordan Elliottt (Hunter); one great-granddaughter, Chloe Kirby; one brother, George Tichenor; one sister, Mary 'Lou' Zoeller; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2:00p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Thruston. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:00p.m. until 2:00p.m. at the funeral home.
