Huff, Dale Johnson, Rev.

The Rev. Dale Johnson Huff, 87, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 26, 2014, while surrounded by family and friends at Chateau Girardeau.

He was born March 10, 1927, in Lutesville, Missouri, son of William and Lottie Johnson Huff. He and Vera Nell Stone were married Dec. 8, 1948. She preceded him in death July 2, 2000. He later married Dotty Wulfers on Aug. 3, 2002.

Dale was a retired Baptist preacher, having served as pastor of Unity Baptist Church in Benton, Missouri, more than 30 years. Other Missouri pastorates included Millers Chapel Baptist Church in Glenallen, Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Patton, South Side Baptist Church in Charleston, Temple Baptist Church in Sikeston and Dongola Friendship Baptist Church in Advance.

He was ordained to the gospel ministry May 26, 1962. He attended Advance High School and was a member of Harold O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672 AF&AM in Cape Girardeau.

Dale served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Dotty of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Greg and Rick Huff of Benton and Harold "Stass" Huff of Lantana, Texas; a daughter, Jeanne (Tim) Essner of New Hamburg, Missouri; two brothers, David Huff of Benton and Ronald Huff of Kimberling City, Missouri; three stepchildren, Carla Wulfers of St. Clair, Missouri, Linda (Jeff) Wyatt of Jackson and Mark (Carol) Wulfers of Canton, Michigan.

Also nine grandchildren, Kim Ziegler, Tabitha Vetter, Stacy Huff, Shane Huff, Denetra Glastetter, Kari Wilhelm, Chance Huff, Leonna Heuring and Samantha Huff; four stepgrandchildren, Carl Wulfers Jr., Josh Wulfers, Tommy Wyatt and Carly Wyatt; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-stepgrandchild.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Quentin Huff; two sisters, Deloris "Dodie" Kasch and Wilma Jean Huff; a grandson, Mark Essner; and a stepgrandson, Evan Wyatt.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Unity Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery with full military honors.
