Hartle, H. Dale
H. Dale Hartle, 89, of Jackson passed away Monday, April 24, 2006, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 22, 1916, near Millersville, son of Jesse and Marada Seabaugh Hartle. He and Naomi Hartle were married Jan. 6, 1945, in Corning, Ark.
Early in their marriage, Dale and Naomi lived in Charleston, Mo., where he worked 14 years as an auto mechanic for Winchester Chevrolet Co. In 1958 they moved to Jackson where he was employed by Brennecke Chevrolet Co. as a mechanic until his retirement in 1979.
Dale graduated from the former Millersville High School. On Oct. 15, 1942, he was inducted into the United States Army, being honorably discharged Nov. 29, 1943. While in service he completed a machinist course in Tacoma, Wash.
He was a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 for 63 years, and a member of the Post Honor Guard.
He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson since 1958, an usher for many years, served on the church administrative board as well as various church committees. Dale was also a member of the Methodist Men's Club and Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Loving survivors include his wife of 61 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Barbara Hartle of Jackson; a grandson and his wife, Shawn and Penny Hartle of Jackson; and a great-grandson, Colton Dale Hartle.
The last of seven children, Dale was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister.
Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. An American Legion Honor Guard service will be held at 7.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Revs. John Rice and Jimmie Corbin officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with graveside military honors.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to New McKendree Radio Broadcast Ministry or Missouri Veterans Home.
