Hahs, Billy Gene

Billy Gene Hahs, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1926, in Millersville, to Pearl Columbus and Hester Faith Propst Hahs. He and Ethel Mae Pease were married Jan. 15, 1974. She preceded him in death March 1, 2004.
Billy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a heavy equipment operator with Midwest Operations Local 150. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 and Eagles Aerie 3775 in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include seven daughters, Beverly (Joe) Hercik of Oak Ridge, Susan Smith of Detroit, Karen (Kevin) McCabe of Patton, Missouri, Ann (Ken) Pettit of Huntley, Illinois, Sheri Banbury of Gilberts, Illinois, Margie (David) Jasutis of South Elgin, Illinois, and Sandra Davidson of Phoenix; four sons, Duane (Barbara) Davidson of Clinton, Iowa, Danny Davidson of Jackson, Rick Davidson of Gilberts and Jack Banbury of Elgin, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Wilma Hahs of Sikeston, Missouri; a special friend, LaVerne Hartley of Cape Girardeau; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ethel; first wife, Goldie Mae Paskvan; infant daughter, Cathy; two sons, Terry and Mack; and a brother, John Clyde Hahs.
A memorial service will be held at Laird Funeral Home in Elgin at a later date.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City is in charge of arrangements.
