Brase, Harvey M.

Harvey M. Brase, 93, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Gordonville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Monticello House in Jackson.
He was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Gordonville, son of Albert and Tillie Hoffman Brase. He and Luella Deneke were married Nov. 21, 1944.
Harvey was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church of Gordonville 70 years and held various church offices. He was formerly employed at Macke Farm Service, operated the family dairy farm, and served as marshal many years in the town of Gordonville. He enjoyed volunteering at Saint Francis Medical Center.
Loving survivors include his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey Lee (Beverly) Brase of Gordonville, Robert (Janet) Brase of Jackson, Dan (Pat) Brase of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Randy Lee and Beth; Jennifer, Ryan and Kara; Todd and Trisha; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Emil (Evelyn) Brase of Jackson, Herbert (Mildred) Brase of Nixa, Mo.; a brother-in-law, O.D. Niswonger of Cape Girardeau; and a sister-in-law, Melba Brase of Gordonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norman Brase; three sisters, Irene Volkerding, Dorothy Crossin and Bernice Hampton.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and 9:30 a.m. to service time Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church of Gordonville.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Joel Kidwell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion United Methodist Church or Saint Francis Medical Center Foundation.
